Competition
Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel faces competition for the best European actor prize from Steve Evets, star of Ken Loach comedy Looking for Eric. Other British talents recognised include Slumdog writer Simon Beaufoy and its cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle.
Hosted by Germany every other year, the awards have been bestowed by the European Film Academy since 1988. Last year's ceremony, held in the Danish capital Copenhagen, saw Dame Judi Dench receive a lifetime achievement honour. |
